Also called Berry Butyrate this is one of three related chemicals that are found in the odours of a wide variety of fruits. Used to enhance the juiciness of other fruit scents and offers a brighter, fresher top-note than it’s cousin isopropyl methyl 2 butyrate and is a more apple, berry type rather than the more pineapple note of ethyl butyrate.
CAS Number: 7452-79-1
Full chemical name: ethyl 2-methylbutanoate
It is extremely diffusive adding freshness to floral fragrances and giving a more unusual alternative to the commonly used citrus opening.
Try adding a small amount of this material to a fragrance containing Nectarate, Fructalate or one of the fruity so-called Aldehydes C14 and C16. The result will be much juicier and more enticing. Used in combination with isopropyl methyl 2 butyrate gives a more lasting effect.
