Laurel Leaf Essential Oil

Laurel Leaf Essential Oil is delightful, really fresh and slightly sweet and is a great appetite stimulant so maybe an alternative to Fennel perhaps. Also known as Sweet Bay and Bay Laurel, clear in colour and steam distilled from the leaves, which many people reading this will know very well due to there use in cooking.
Botanical Name: Laurus Nobilis

Origin: Morocco

Although there are similarities in name Laurel Leaf and Bay Essential Oil (pimento racemosa) have a very different natural chemistry and are not the same at all.

Laurel Leaf contains alpha & beta pinene as well as linalol, limeone, cineole and terpinol which explains the fresh smell and makes this oil useful or treating colds and generally helping people breathe a little easier.

However it does contain eugenol and methyl chavicol so if you are inhaling the aroma directly from the bottle or burning it on an oil burner do so with care as prolonged use may result in a headache. Diluted down in carrier oil this oil can be considered safe.

Also I need to mention we also sell Laurel Absolute, same plant but it is instead solvent extracted and so retains all the water soluble chemicals that are lost in steam distilled essential oils, the two materials are very different in smell and the absolute boasts a superior natural chemistry.
