The tree that is responsible for aniseed myrtle essential oil grows chiefly in Bellingen and Nambucca Valley in Australia and the oil comes from the steam distillation of the fragrant leaves and the little white flower heads. The smell is very fresh, sticky and sweet, it is golden yellow in colour and contains a high percentage of anethole which is also found in aniseed oils in high percentages ( pimpinella anisum and illicium verum) and maybe responsible for the name.
Botanical Name: Backhousia Anisata

Origin: Australia

Like most oils it has good antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. I personally find the aroma very stimulating and soothing when used on my oil burner.

Also this only my opinion but so far I’m finding it has a really calming effect on me, I’m going to study this further but I would encourage therapists to consider working with this in massage when treating anyone who is feeling nervous and anxious, it could also be of some use to those that meditate as it may assist breathing exercises, again just thoughts at the moment, but it’s definitely an interesting material.
