The aroma of Stinging Nettle Leaf Absolute is so spine tingling gorgeous, one of those aromas you keep going back to smell. Inhaling this aroma is a triumph on every level. It is fresh, cleansing, sweet and deeply stimulating, actually it reminds me of Linden crossed with Opoponax, bizzare I know but it really works and its just so different. This absolute is produced by solvent extraction using the fresh top leaves from the stinging nettle plant and is very dark green in colour, and dont worry it wont sting you!
Botanical Name: Urtica Dioica
Origin: France
You may find it a little tough to work with straightaway but Im pleased to say it needs only 10 - 15 minutes of gentle heat (pop on top of radiator or submerge bottle in bowl of hot water) and the consistency will be more water like and expectionally easy to work with, Id still advise removing the dropper cap from the bottle though.
Theraputically speaking the smell alone is very uplifting and is said to reduce sneezing and itching experienced by hayfever suferers but I can not vouch for this. Also said to be a useful aid for asthmatics, reducing wheezing and coughing fits, however as an asthmatic myself I always use Lime and Frankincense but I am going to try incorporating it now. In massage it is said to be good at combating pain in joints and muscles and I imagine many would be responsive to the smell. I can imagine this blending very well with Patchouli, Lavender, Basil and Rosewood, maybe also Juniperberry and Cognac.
