Sacred Jasmine Absolute is the name I chose to bestow upon the enchanting Vietnamese Jasmine Sambac Absolute. Not to be confused with the absolute's of Jasinum grandiflorium or officinale both of which to a large extent are one of the same and portray a heady and rich, aroma.

Vietnamese Jasmine and all Sambac Jasmines are mainly grown to enable production of Jasmine Tea, a very popular drink especially in China and Thailand. This particular Sacred Jasmine is the result of a profitable project which enables the local villagers a better equality of life.

The Sacred Jasmine Sambac is a huge community effort as the plants are grown in the local villagers' gardens. However, these are not small gardens as the villagers involved have over 65 acres of land to work with. This sounds vast but every acre of land will only produce about 25 kilos of flowers and on average a staggering 7.5 million of the star shaped flowers are needed to produce just 1 kilo of absolute. Early each morning the collections are taken north to the extraction plant in Ho Chi Minh City and after a 30 hour extraction process they obtain the stunning Sacred Jasmine Sambac.
