Spanish Hay Absolute is yet another aromatic triumph, expensive yes but I find it so calming and peaceful, I use this on its own added to my oil burner whilst I work, not for any therapeutic reason other than I love the smell. When you inhale it you are greeted with a very fresh, clean, grassy, tobacco accord, absolutely wonderful. I actually conjure up an image of being in the open countryside, early afternoon, sun shining down with a fresh breeze in the air each time I smell Hay Absolute, I recommend it very highly indeed.
Botanical Name: Heirochloe Alpoina

Origin: Spain

The bundles of Hay (wisps) are gathered by June and left to completely dry until mid August before being solvent extracted to produce this absolute. It is olive green in colour and as I write I actually have the Hay Absolute at my desk, I'd describe the material as quite thick but it's definitely pourable as when I tilt the container upside down it starts to slowly move towards the opening, this said I think it would benefit from the application of gentle heat for 5 or 10 minutes just to make it a little easier to work with. Looking at it the thickness is similar to Benzoin.

Again in the world of aromatherapy I'm not sure of it's use other than a good mood enhancer but in the perfumery world I understand it is commonly used as a fixative and the potential for blending with other oils is vast, Lavenders, Tonka Bean absolute, Galbanum essential oil, Patchouli essential oil, I could envisage them all working very well, maybe even with Wild Marjoram essential oil as well.
